After more than 40 years in real estate, there isn’t much Mark Gunther hasn’t come across.

For most of those 30 years, the Yarra Valley has been home, selling everything from family homes and vacant blocks to commercial property, development sites, lifestyle acreage and some pretty substantial rural holdings along the way.

As Director of Gunther Real Estate, Healesville’s leading agency over the past 12 months according to realestate.com.au, Mark brings a wealth of experience to the team, but you won’t hear him making too much noise about it. His approach has always been pretty simple: know your market, give people honest advice and genuinely care about the people you’re working for.

It’s an approach that has seen clients come back to Mark time and time again over the years.

Some have bought and sold with him multiple times, others have recommended him to family and friends, and many relationships have continued well beyond the original sale. After decades working in the same community, Mark is incredibly proud of the trust people place in him - and he never takes it for granted.

He’s well known for being honest, straightforward and genuine. Sometimes that means having the harder conversations too. Mark would much rather give someone realistic advice from the beginning than tell them what they want to hear simply to win their business.

For him, real estate has always been about people first and property second.

Mark has sold properties ranging from a few acres on the edge of town through to farms and rural holdings of more than 160 acres. One of those was 231 Heath Road, Chum Creek – approximately 163 acres – which sold for $2.75 million in 2021.

And anyone who knows country property knows it’s rarely just about the house.

Water, pasture, fencing, shedding, access, usable land, infrastructure, planning considerations, views and privacy can all make a big difference. Sometimes it’s a horse property. While Healesville has been at the heart of Mark’s career for more than three decades, his knowledge stretches right across the Yarra Valley and surrounding districts. He regularly works throughout Yarra Glen, Yering, Chum Creek, Badger Creek, Dixons Creek, Toolangi, Coldstream, Lilydale and Hoddles Creek, with the team’s reach extending through Kinglake, Marysville, Narbethong, Glenburn, Yea and beyond.

These days Mark works closely alongside Gary Lucas, Gabriella Gunther, Elvira Donnelly and the wider Gunther Real Estate team. Between Mark and Gary alone there’s more than 60 years of real estate experience, backed by a dedicated sales and marketing team, professional photography, video and drone, digital campaigns and a well-established network of buyers both locally and across Victoria.
